Betty Wellhoefer Hill

  • Five Star Advisor for 12 Years
  • JW Cole Advisor of the Year 2022
  • Wisconsin Top Choice Award Winner 2018

Growing up on a Wisconsin dairy farm taught Betty Wellhoefer Hill many things about entrepreneurship and hard work. She also learned about investing in the stock market as her father would often stop to see their stockbroker when they went to town. Life has come full circle for Betty, who now welcomes clients to her own financial services firm in the Village of Grafton. Opening Crescendo Wealth Management, LLC in 2013 was both the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for Betty and also a natural progression of her career.

After 19 years as an investment adviser at Baird, Betty felt the timing was right to achieve her longtime vision of owning her own business. Those childhood visits to her father’s stockbroker, along with work at a local savings and loan starting in her junior year of high school, piqued Betty’s interest in personal finance. A bank internship during college then led to her first full time job at First Wisconsin – Eau Claire in the accounting department. Building on that experience, Betty then went to work for First Wisconsin Corporation (n/k/a US Bank) as an internal auditor, and subsequently entered branch banking as a small business lender.

Betty left banking to pursue a sales career for two years, but missed the financial field and the opportunity to build long-term relationships with people and help them manage their money. After a period of soul searching, Betty joined Baird as a retail broker, returning to a profession she knew and loved and welcoming the entrepreneurial challenge.

During her years at Baird, Betty worked as a member of a team practice, and also as a sole practitioner. Passionate about providing personalized financial advice, Betty eventually decided to open her own firm, Crescendo Wealth Management LLC, so that she could invest more time and effort in helping clients work towards their financial goals.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™,* Betty provides individuals and families with a full range of services including wealth accumulation planning, retirement income planning, investment selection, investment allocation planning, taxation and estate planning. Betty is affiliated with J.W. Cole Financial, Inc., an independent full-service Broker/Dealer. Being an independent advisor allows Betty to freely choose the products and services that address clients’ needs because J.W. Cole Financial, Inc. does not offer any proprietary products.

In addition to working with business owners, physicians and other professionals, Betty focuses on the financial needs of women. Traditionally they have not been at the financial planning table, but are becoming more involved out of both desire and necessity. Betty is deeply committed to educating and empowering them to feel confident about making financial decisions. In Betty’s experience, women and men alike have concerns about their financial well-being and want to be confident about their financial future. She helps clients visualize and articulate their goals, needs and dreams. She then works with them to build and monitor customized investment programs which begins the process of working toward those dreams.

Betty is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire, with a BBA in Finance and an MBA from Marquette University.

Betty is a member of the Grafton Chamber of Commerce, is an active board member for the Cedarburg Women’s Club and participates in other community activities. She and her husband, Ed Hill, reside in Mequon with their son, Ethan.
